  Our tax person was on time for our appointment and polite. She was easily flustered and seemed inexperienced. She could not for example find the EIN for our Vanguard account until I pointed it out on the 1099-DIV. When finished, she clicked "submit" while I was still reviewing my notes and thus I lost a chance to claim a deduction for $450 in catastrophic medical care. She also claimed a New Mexico tax credit for taxes paid in AZ before we moved, which the State disallowed (a $2000 difference). My wife brought this to their attention and pointed out the the Peace of Mind policy we purchased stipulated HR Block would pay the $338 we now owed. She agreed, but called us later saying they could not do it in time for the tax deadline (this was on March 14) ; therefore we would need to pay it and get reimbursed. I asked for written confirmation, which she promised to e-mail. A week later I am waiting for the e-mail. She has my e-mail (after all I got e-mail notices from HR Block). Time will tell if we get our $338 back. (EDIT we got the money). I have used HR Block for 15 years in three different States and not had problems.
